Knowledge exchange and impact
All "NWO Vernieuwingsimpuls" applications will be assessed on knowledge utilisation, as well as on the quality of the researcher and that of the project proposal. The knowledge utilisation assessment will represent 20% of the total assessment. This is an important change with respect to previous application rounds.

Applicants (employed by Leiden University) applying for a NWO Veni, Vidi, or Vici grant or another NWO proposal with a similar knowledge utilisation paragraph
Next to the quality of the research and of the researcher, all NWO applications are assessed on possible knowledge utilisation, representing 10% to 30% of the total rating (Verniewingsimpuls 20%). The goal of this training is to give researchers the tools to write an excellent knowledge utilisation paragraph for their application. A prerequisite for the training is that you have a (nearly finished) research proposal as a starting point.
This is a very hands-on training. During 4 hours you will gather all the elements for your own knowledge utilisation paragraph by making a poster. The trainer provides background and participants help each other by giving feedback. We will start by discussing what is being asked for in the knowledge utilisation paragraph and how this relates to the rest of the application. We start with identifying the outcomes of your own research. Next, you will identify interested parties (stakeholders) and articulate why they are interested. Lastly, you will work on a practical time line for knowledge utilisation, and describing your role as researcher. Note that you will not do actual writing during the training. After the training you can send your (revised) knowledge utilisation paragraph to the trainer and you will receive feedback.
